Healing through Nature : FirReal Nature Connections

Looking to nature to help us heal and find balance is something to explore when we feel overwhelmed, stressed, or disconnected from ourselves.

Living in harmony with and connecting to nature offers a place of comfort. A place of reflection & introspection. A place of healing & peace, balance. Even nourishment, if you know what you’re doing and only take what you need.

For this blog post, I thought I’d expand on the idea of connecting with nature by inviting a new friend of mine who helps her clients align themselves with nature to find health & wellness through nature-connected coaching.

Introducing Melody of FirReal Nature Connections.

Hey Melody! Thanks for doing this interview. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?

Hey, I’m Melody! I’m a Certified Nature Connected Life Coach, a shamanic practitioner and a veggie and herb plant grower, so I offer a few different things but they are all connected and nature based which is what I love!

And what kind of services do you offer?

I offer in person and virtual, individual and group coaching sessions and workshops. I help my clients slow down and reconnect to their true selves, their true nature.

Within my coaching programs I also offer Parts Work facilitation which really laser focuses on who we truly are and why we do, think, feel what we do, which offers immense healing and growth in a short period of time.

That sounds amazing. As a nature lover, this appeals to me so much and the fact that it’s a different form of therapy is really cool too. What inspired you to get into this line of work?

I’ve always loved spending time in nature and found it very healing which is why I went into horticulture production, along with other nature/environmental studies before that as well.

As life evolved I kind of fell into life coaching but it really hit the spot when I found out about Nature Connected Coaching and Parts Work. It brought together everything I love!

Connecting people to nature and to their true nature! It’s an honour to walk alongside my clients and witness them heal, grow and transform their lives.

I’ve lived through a lot of challenging experiences in my life and I want to help people speed up their healing and growth.

So why do you offer this particular service and why do you feel it’s important?

I love helping people regain control of their lives and live the life they want, need and deserve, and also love connecting them with nature.

When someone feels connected to nature they will take better care of it and that’s really important to me, to leave a happier and healthier planet for future generations.

“Saving the planet, 1 person at a time” is my motto.

Sounds good to me! So if I were to do this type of coaching, what can I expect before, during, and after?

The sessions are client led so it’s really up to them. If it’s an in-person session in nature you never know how nature will show up! In general though, a client will bring an issue they’d like to work on and we explore that through their internal and external environment as it’s a reflection of their inner landscape.

I ask powerful questions and invite my clients to walk quite slow, taking time to really sink into themselves, to be present and follow whatever they may be pulled towards, to what grabs their attention and then we explore what that means to them, what it shows them, what it teaches them about the issue they brought, or anything else in life.

It can be anything from very playful to ritualistic and ceremonial. Sometimes we throw rocks in the river as a release of negative energy or beliefs, sometimes we build things in nature, walk barefoot, hug trees and sit quietly and listen inward and outward. Parts work can also be facilitated in nature using different objects and beings as representations of different parts.

There is often “homework” based on the work done in the session and follow up sessions to dig deeper or build on previous sessions.

Afterwards, clients often feel more connected to themselves and to nature. They feel calmer, more grounded, more focused and more clear of their path ahead.

Virtual sessions are similar as we use imagination, memory and visualization as well as what’s in their current environment and what’s coming up for them in that moment.

And, is there an ideal process or length of time to commit to something like this?

A 3-month program with weekly sessions is ideal. Although I do offer other options, 3 months really gives clients a great amount of tools, techniques, self awareness and sets a great foundation for moving forward.

The program provides space for accountability, discovering their goals and the steps to achieve them, reflection and reassessment if needed. It also gives clients the time to explore and build their connection to their true selves and create routines and rituals in their lives that will stick!

When working with Parts Work, 3 months also allows the client to dig deep and discover their parts and to create and work within their parts work mandala which brings healing, growth and an immense amount of self awareness, accountability, and control.

Can you share some of the results from other clients? How has it changed their life?

Through nature connected coaching I’ve had clients who:

  • rekindled the spark of dreams they’ve pushed aside for years, even decades!

  • discovered what they truly want in life, now, and get/do it!

  • transitioned in their careers, found peace with loss and unplanned change.

  • can better manage the daily struggles of life and process trauma.

Overall, there is always a sense of deeper connection to self and to nature, increased self awareness and self acceptance, a letting go of outdated belief systems, patterns and habits. Increased positivity and gratitude.

Clients know who they are, why they do, think, feel what they do and live lives that are less reactive and more connected, more intentional and mindful. They come to a place of inner peace, awareness and acceptance. And from that place anything is possible!

Wow, that sounds so freeing! What a thrill it must be to help clients this way. Is there anything else you’d like to share, that I haven’t touched upon?

If the client is interested we can also add in other modalities like chakra cleansing and balancing, working with crystals, card readings and even soul retrievals into their programs. It’s all about connecting with nature in all her forms for healing our whole, true selves.

Excellent. I do hope people reach out if they’re interested because this sounds like a wonderful experience, despite the work that goes into working through some messy things. And, you get to enjoy nature while you’re doing it so that’s a win win!

Thanks for taking the time to share Melody! I’m sure we’ll chat soon.
